Antibiotics ... never sugar free

Oh it’s the hardest thing a very sick baby who refuses to take their antibiotics and spits the whole sticky mess out. It is immensely frustrating and worrying, and makes me want to really cry. I have literally tried everything.... mixing with apple juice, yoghurt, maple syrup, calpol! Then I was given the sugar rich version and hurrah it was swallowed. Thank god for sugar.

A few notes on twins

Tandem feeding... in the early days was sometimes a life saver with two crying babies but it can be very hard to position them. Help needed or one slips off down a crack in the sofa! Sharing cot up to about 6 months was a space saving good thing but soon they began to roll and kick each other. I thought mine would find it comforting to be close to each other but as they got older it seemed less important and infact they will happily sleep in separate rooms now. I loved Ewen the white noise sheep musical box, v comforting for all. Which buggy? This is a minefield! I went for a tandem icandy orange as I liked the idea of them both facing me and they are narrower. Infact they have 30 or so settings but I only ever used 2! But it seems to me all buggies have pros and cons. (One thing it was wonderful to fit the car seats on the frame.) And there is no doubt that a lighter one is easier however good tyres also make them easier to drive and mountain buggy have much better tyres and sin...

unpacking That cupboard by the loo ... and a double awkward moment

Do you have a hiding place for ‘personal’ items in your bathroom? I still feel awkward when adverts come on tv for pantyliners, women doing high kicks or skipping around in overly tight clothing against a sun filled meadow. Argh! Really you would think I had got over such embarrassment at my age. We used to call periods ‘the curse’ at school... at least it sounded a little removed and could involve witch craft! Anyway my cupboard contains all sorts of Uber embarrassing items from pantyliners to suppositories via tampons.... and the babies find it the most alluring cupboard of all. No basket of blocks or musical instruments can beat opening these boxes and scattering an array of small rollable or crunchable objects all over the bathroom floor. The other day R made merry with this cupboard and managed to thoroughly empty all boxes including some slimline pantyliners. I was distracted changing Ws nappy. Then my 6 year old boy comes in and says “Mummy what are those?”. I freeze... sure...
